GNAC Women's Soccer Athlete's of the Week Report #5

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Kat Probst, Norwich (So., F) 

Sophomore forward Kat Probst played a pivotal role in the Cadets' two wins this week, tallying two goals and an assist. In Wednesday's (Sept. 25) 2-1 victory over Plymouth State, she assisted on the game-winning goal in the 88th minute. Probst continued her strong performance on Saturday (Sept. 28) against conference opponent Simmons, netting both of the Cadets' goals in another 2-1 win. She is currently tied for fourth in the GNAC with five assists.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Bri Nugent, Rivier (Jr., GK)

Junior goalkeeper Bri Nugent delivered an outstanding performance for the Raiders this week, playing the full 180 minutes across two games and helping the team secure a 2-0 record against GNAC opponents. On Wednesday (Sept. 25), she achieved a shutout against the Amcats, making three saves in a 2-1 victory. Nugent followed that up with a stellar performance on Saturday (Sept. 28) against Emmanuel, where she made 11 saves and allowed only one goal, marking the Raiders' first win over the Saints since 2010. She concluded the week with an impressive .933 save percentage.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Nicole Morello, Colby-Sawyer (Fy., GK)

Rookie goalkeeper Nicole Morello played a total of 104 minutes this past week, conceding just one goal. On Wednesday (Sept. 25) against New England College, she started the match and made four saves while allowing one goal in 75 minutes of play during a 3-2 victory. Then on Saturday (Sept. 28), Morello came off the bench with 30 minutes left in the second half, where she recorded seven saves to help the Chargers clinch a 2-0 win over VTSU Castleton.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Bridget O'Connell, Colby-Sawyer - The senior forward tallied two goal across three games both of which were game winnning goals against New England College and VTSU Castleton. She also fired off 18 total shots, nine of which were on goal.

Hailey Magierowski, Elms - Graduate goalkeeper Hailey Magierowski had a busy week for the Blazers, recording a total of 27 saves while allowing six goals in a 1-1 week. She made 16 saves in a 5-0 loss to a strong Emmanuel team, then followed up with 11 saves in a 2-1 victory against Lasell. Magierowski concluded the week with an impressive .818 save percentage.

Gemma Landry, MitchellMitchell college goalkeeper Gemma Landry had yet another impressive week in net. The senior recorded 41 total saves across two matches. She started tge week notching 14 saves against Dean and finished off the week with a career-high 27 saves in a home game against Johnson & Wales. The 27 saves set the single-match record in the Division III era of the Mitchell College women's soccer program. 

Sienna Santiago, Regis - The rookie forward notched three goals across two games for the Pride in a 2-0 week. She recorded the game winnner in a 3-1 win over Saint Josephs College (Me.) and also notched two goals including the game winner in a 4-0 win over Dean.
