JWU Clinches Top Spot in 2024 WSOC Postseason Tournament; Looking for Five-Peat

Tournament Info

WINTHROP, Mass. – Four-time defending Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) champion Johnson & Wales looks to collect their fifth conference title in 2024 GNAC Women’s Soccer Postseason Tournament. The Wildcats finished their regular season with 43 points, going 14-0-1 in GNAC play [16-3-1 overall].

Trailing behind the Wildcats is last year's GNAC Runner-up Emmanuel, who gets the two seed after collecting 37 points and compiling a 12-2-1 (15-2-1 overall) GNAC record.

Rivier will look to make some noise in postseason play after they earned the third seed in this year's GNAC tournament. The Raiders ended the regular season at 9-2-4 [31 points] in conference action and 9-5-6 overall.

Seeds 4-6 ended up in ties with teams each earning 27 conference points in which the league's tiebreaking procedure had to be established. Lasell (8-4-3) took the four seed after defeating Colby-Sawyer and tying Albertus Magnus. Colby-Sawyer (7-2-6) defeated Albertus Magnus to earn the five spot, which led the Falcons (8-4-3) to claim the sixth spot.

Fighting for the quarterfinal spots in the play-in round are seven seed Norwich [7-4-4], eight seed Regis [7-4-4], No. 9 Elms [7-6-2], and clinching the final spot was the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) with a 6-6-3 conference record [21 points]. The Cadets had the tie-breaking edge over Regis after defeating them earlier this year in conference play. They will host USJ while the Pride will host the Blazers to determine the final eight spots for the quarterfinals. Both play-in games will play on Thursday, Oct. 31.

The GNAC Quarterfinals start on Saturday (Nov. 2) with the eight teams going head-to-head. The winners will advance to play in the GNAC Semifinals on Tuesday, Nov. 5 with the prevailing teams competing for the GNAC Championship on Saturday, Nov. 9. The winner of the GNAC Championship match will be named the 2024 GNAC Women's Soccer Champion and earn the conference's automatic qualifier into the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship.
