PROVIDENCE, R.I. - No. 2 seed Emmanuel is heading back to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament for the first time since 2007 after upsetting top-seeded Johnson & Wales on Saturday night for the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) title. The Saints earned the leagues automatic qualifying bid into the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament.
The Saints came out firing as they netted a goal nearly 30 seconds into the start of the championship and followed up with a goal late in the first half to put themselves up 2-0 while holding JWU to no shots at all in the half.
The top-seeded Wildcats would not get on the board until late in the second half with nearly four minutes left remaining. From there, Emmanuel would not let Johnson & Wales get another shot off, giving the Saints the victory.
Emmanuel will learn their first-round opponent via the NCAA's selection show on Monday afternoon (Nov. 11) at 2 pm.
