BOSTON – The Johnson & Wales women's lacrosse team captured the sixth Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship in program history with a 14-4 win at Emmanuel College Sunday afternoon at Roberto Clemente Park.
Senior Katie Sloan scored five goals to earn Tournament MVP honors, collecting 12 points (11-1-12) in three tournament games. Junior Madeleine Gould scored three times and added an assist for the No. 1 South seed Wildcats, who also received four assists from sophomore Izzy Babb.
JWU – which previously captured the GNAC Championship in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2023 – led 3-1 after one quarter and 9-2 at halftime behind two goals apiece from Sloan, Gould, and juniors Neely Connor and Isabella Nugent.
Two more tallies from Sloan in the third extended the lead to 12-3, and markers from Sloan and Gould in the final stanza capped the scoring for the visitors. Junior goaltender Emma Glyman recorded six saves while Nugent collected 10 draw controls, and both Sloan and senior Emma Crowley caused two turnovers.
