Five GNAC Women's Basketball Players Named To NEWBA And D3hoops.com All-Region Teams

WINTHROP, Mass. - Five Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Basketball Players earned regional honors from D3hoops.com as well as the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) for their outstanding achievements on the court. 

Caitlyn Scott of Albertus Magnus was elected on the D3hoops.com Region I Third Team. The White Plains, N.Y. native collected her third consecutive all-region nod after finished third in the GNAC in points per game at 22.6 (10th in DIII), and her 610 total points (tied for ninth in DIII) in the season ranked her second. She also placed third in total assists with 110 and made the most free throws of anyone in the GNAC with 171 (most in DIII). Scott became the program's all-time leading scorer on Feb. 15th in a conference game against Regis. She placed herself on the GNAC's All-Conference First Team after the season concluded, totaling all four years she was named an All-GNAC member.

Marinique Reddin of Anna Maria was named to the D3hoops.com Region I Third Team, marking her first appearance as well as the Tampa, FL. native averaged 21.9 points a game (fourth in GNAC, 12th in DIII) and totaling 569 points on the season (fourth in conference, 14th in DIII) along with knocking down 139 free throws, which were good for third best in conference and 16th in the nation. Reddin was also a force defensively as she lead the league in steals with 65 and grabbed nine rebounds a game, totaling 233 on the season, both of which placed her fifth in the league. She earned herself a spot on the GNAC's First-Team All-Conference team, totaling her fourth overall all-conference appearance. 

Grace Jaffray of Johnson & Wales had quite the collegiate debut, earning her not only D3hoops.com Third Team All Region honors but was named the D3Hoops.com Region I Rookie of the Year. Jaffray was the second-leading scorer in the GNAC in points per game at 25.4 (fourth in DIII) and total points with 610 (tied for ninth in DIII) as her scoring was a huge part of a JWU team that led the GNAc in scoring 82.3 points a game (third in DIII). Her 215 field goals placed her third in the conference and 15th nationally. The Blue Hill, Maine native also snagged down 8.3 rebounds a night and collected 53 total steals (2.2 a game), which both placed her top-10 in the conference this year. Jaffray earned both First-Team All-GNAC honors as well as GNAC Rookie of the Year this past season.

Lyric Grumblatt of Rivier capped off her historic season with a D3hoops.com Region I First Team honor as well as a NEWBA Second Team honor. The Manchester, N.H. native led the GNAC in scoring at 26.3 a game and totaling 683 points, both were good for third in the country. Along the way, she surpassed head coach Deanna Purcell to become Rivier's all-time leading scorer and also etched her name in conference history, becoming the GNAC's Women's Basketball all-time leading scorer with 2,523 career points. Her 230 made field goals (seventh in DIII), 169 free throws made (second in DIII), and 87.1% free-throw percentage (11th in DIII) placed her second in the conference. She was just as impressive on the defensive side of the ball, averaging 2.3 steals a game, totaling 61 steals, and 8.8 rebounds a night, placing her in the top-six in the GNAC. Grumblatt finished her career strong, marking her fourth First-Team All-GNAC appearance as well as her third Player of the Year honor this past season.

Jordan Ouellette of the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) was named to the D3hoops.com Region I Third Team as well as the NEWBA Fourth Team as the Bristol, Conn. native had a stellar campaign for the Blue Jays. Ouellette led her team in scoring, averaging 19 points per game, while shooting 57.7% from the field, which was the 13th-best clip in the nation and second in the conference. Her 248 field goals made led the GNAC and placed her fourth in the nation. Ouellette also hauled in seven rebounds per game as her scoring and rebounding efforts placed her as the program's all-time leader in both categories, finishing her career with 1,809 points and 856 rebounds. She was named GNAC Tournament MVP this postseason after leading #4 seed USJ to the NCAA Tournament. Ouellette was placed on the GNAC's Second-Team All-Conference this past season, totaling three all-conference honors for her career.
