WINTHROP, Mass. - Host Norwich University cruised to a team-victory and claiming the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Cross Country trophy. The Cadets scored 30 points in the eight-kilometer race on their own course on Saturday, Nov. 2.
Norwich posted seven all-conference honorees, including six on the first-team. Finishing fifth overall for the Cadets was first-year runner Matheu Dettenrieder, who ran a time of 27:48.9 to lead the way for Norwich. Trailing behind them in order were Seth Varin (27:54.8), Landon Pandolph (28:10.2), Judson Nash (28:26), Jacob Reed (28:31.5), and Leo Circosta (28:40.4).
Saint Joseph's (Maine) finished as the runner-up in this year's championship, posting a score of 57 points. The Monks had three all-conference honorees as their top finisher, Jacob Pelletier, finished as the overall runner up with a time of 26:03, collecting first-team all-conference honors. Alexey Seredin (28:53.1) and Ryan Graham (29:17.5) finished in 11th and 13th to garner Second Team All-GNAC honors.
Colby-Sawyer finished third with 86 points as Cody Thompson (25:43.1) crossed the finish line as the individual champion while James Masterson collected second-team honors, finishing 14th with a time of 29:19.3.
Emmanuel came in fourth, collecting 91 points with Nick Ware posting as the Saints' top runner (29:29.6) for 16th place.
Regis came in fifth with 118 points, led by first team all-conference honoree Riley Stogsdill, who crossed the line fourth overall at a 27:37.2 time.
Rivier (181) and Dean (192) came in sixth and seventh as they were led respectively by Sawyer Hall (Rivier) and Sebastian Marsalese (Dean).
Lasell, New England College, Elms, and Mitchell did not have enough runners to compete for team competition but were led by their respective runners Amill Houston (Lasell), Malik Keresey (NEC), Clement Kimani (Elms), and Jonathan Hecker (Mitchell).
The University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) also did not have enough runners for team competition but First Team All-Conference Honoree Braeden Laframboise represented very well on the Blue Jays' behalf as he finished third at a time of 26:59.8.
