No. 9 Wentworth Clinches Top Seed, Seeking to Claim Four-Peat In Upcoming 2025 MVB Postseason Tournament

TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

WINTHROP, Mass. - No. 9 nationally-ranked Wentworth have claimed the top spot in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Volleyball Postseason Tournament once again after the Leopards went 13-1 in conference play (24-6 overall) this past season.

Wentworth has consistently been in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) top-10 rankings throughout the whole season, including the first preseason rankings, as the Leopards only conceded five sets in conference play this past season as they look to claim their fourth consecutive GNAC title.

At the two seed is Lasell as they finished conference play strong in two conference sweeps today, including one over Wentworth, at 12-2 (22-7 overall). The Lasers, who have been in the national rankings (as high as no. 14) for all but one week, will be looking to go back to the title match for the first time since 2023 and capture their first GNAC title in program history.

Both Wentworth and Lasell earn bye-rounds in this year's conference postseason tournament as they await the winners of the 3-6 seeds.

At no. 3 is Emmanuel, who finished 10-4 in conferece play (18-11 overall) including a huge victory over then-ranked Lasell last week. The Saints will match-up in quarterfinals play Tuesday night and host against associate member and six seed Emerson College (5-9 GNAC, 9-16 overall) with first serve being set at 6 PM on Tuesday, April 8th.

At the four spot is Regis College, who posted a 7-7 (19-11 overall) conference record, as the Pride will match-up against no. 5 Rivier in the quarterfinals on Tuesday night in Weston, Mass. with a 7pm start time.

The winners of the two quarterfinal matches will advance to join the top two seeds in the semifinal round on Thursday, April 10 as the winner of the Regis-Rivier match will head to the top-seeded Leopards for a 7pm serve, while the Emmanuel-Emerson victor will head to Lasell for a 6 pm start.

The two semifinal winners will compete for the conference title on Saturday, April 12 with the winner being crowned 2025 GNAC Men’s Volleyball Champion and earning the league’s automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Men’s Volleyball Championship.
