GNAC Indoor Track & Field Report: Week 5

FOR THE WEEK OF JAN. 31 - FEB. 6

MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Matyas Csiki-Fejer, Suffolk (Sr., Manchester, Mo.) - Csiki-Fejer's performance in the 3000 at BU's Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invite was the seventh-best time in the NCAA DIII this season and second-best in New England with a time of 8:12.57. The captain ran against some of the best in the country with competition from top NCAA Division-I programs Stanford, Harvard, and many others featured in the 45-runner field and took eighth overall.

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE / ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Samantha Carus, Colby-Sawyer (Fr., Brownfield, Maine) - Carus competed in the Boston University - Scarlett & White Invitational on Saturday while facing off against not only Division III competition, but Division I & Division II competitors as well. Carus was the top DIII finisher in the 5K finishing with a time of 18:54, which was 27 seconds better than her previous personal record.

MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE / ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Carter Nevulis, Suffolk (So., Plymouth, Mass.) - Nevulis had two standout showings at BU's Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invite. He posted a personal record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.70, good for 14th in New England, and in the triple jump, Nevulis broke the school record of 12.50 meters.

WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Caitlyn Filloramo, Suffolk (Fr., Southport, Conn.) - Filloramo registered the top weight throw of any Division III freshman in the event that featured a mixed field from all divisions with a toss of 11.29 meters at Boston University's Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invite.

 


GNAC WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Samantha VanDeMoere, Saint Joesph's (Maine) (Sr., Thornton, N.H.) - VanDeMoere placed third - and qualified for the NCAA DIII Regional - with a 2:27.60 time in the State of Maine Championships at Colby College on Saturday.
