GNAC Men's Soccer Athlete's of the Week Report #10

CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Morgan Stone, Albertus Magnus (So. F/M)

Sophomore forward/midfielder Morgan Stone played a key role for the Falcons in their 2-0 week, starting both games and delivering a standout performance in the GNAC Quarterfinal game on Saturday (Nov. 2). Stone scored the game-winning goal in overtime at the 100th minute, securing a thrilling victory for Albertus Magnus and advancing the team to the GNAC Semifinals.

CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Bruno Teixeira, Johnson & Wales (So., F)

Sophomore forward Bruno Teixeira clinched the game-winning goal in overtime on Saturday (Nov. 2), lifting the Wildcats to a 3-2 victory over Anna Maria and securing a spot in the GNAC Semifinals. His teammate Aidan Bagley sent a long ball into the box from 30 yards out, where Teixeira rose above the defense to head it into the right corner, marking his third goal of the season.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Liam Foley, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Sr., GK)

Senior goalkeeper Liam Foley earns his second consecutive Goalkeeper of the Week honor after two strong performances. On Tuesday (Oct. 29) against Anna Maria, he made two saves to secure a shutout in the Monks’ 2-0 victory. In the GNAC Quarterfinals on Saturday (Nov. 2) against Emmanuel, Foley delivered an impressive eight saves and allowed only one goal as the game ended 1-1 in regulation. He kept Emmanuel scoreless through two overtimes but ultimately fell 4-2 in penalty kicks.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Aaron Picker, Emmanuel (Fy., D)

First-year defender Aaron Picker made a strong impact for the Saints this past week, starting both games and logging 175 total minutes. His standout moment came in the GNAC Quarterfinals, where he scored the game-tying goal against Saint Joseph’s College (Maine) in the 39th minute. The Saints went on to win in penalty kicks, securing their spot in the GNAC Semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 6.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Maddox Pierce, Emmanuel - Pierce made six saves this week for the Saints, with his most notable performance coming in the GNAC Quarterfinals against Saint Joseph’s (Maine). He posted five saves and allowed just one goal as the game ended 1-1 in regulation. Pierce then held Saint Joseph's scoreless through two overtime periods, and then helped the Saints secure a 4-2 victory in penalty kicks.

Alejandro Quezada, Rivier - The rookie tallied two goals over three games for the Raiders this week. He scored the game-winner in a 1-0 victory over Emmanuel on Tuesday (Oct. 29) and added another goal in a 1-1 tie against Lasell on Thursday (Oct. 31), which ended with the Raiders taking a 5-4 win in penalty kicks. Quezada also converted one of the five penalty kicks to help secure the win.

Logan Clough, Rivier - Clough recorded 17 saves and allowed just three goals across three games for the Raiders this week. He started with a five-save shutout in a 1-0 win over Emmanuel on Tuesday (Oct. 29). In Thursday's (Oct. 31) play-in game against Lasell, he added four saves and conceded only one goal, ultimately helping the team advance with a win in penalty kicks. Clough wrapped up the week with an eight-save effort in a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Albertus Magnus.
