GNAC Men's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week Report #4

 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Christian Rainis, Norwich (Jr., A)

Junior attacker Christian Rainis provided steady offense in an undefeated 2-0 mark for the Cadets as the Wynantskill, N.Y. native opened up the week by racking up seven points on three goals and four assists with three ground balls and four caused turnovers in a non-conference rivalry win over VTSU Castleton. He followed that up with a three-goal and three-assist split in Norwich's GNAC-opening win at Anna Maria, also scooping up a ground ball. On the week, Rainis tallied 13 points, four ground balls, and four caused turnovers with a 58.3% shots on goal percentage and a 50.0% shot mark.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Nick Duryea, Albertus Magnus (So., GK)

Sophomore goalie Nick Duryea was a force to be reckoned with at the net for the Falcons as the East Haven, Conn. native picked up two wins against Cairn and Mitchell, boasting an outstanding 89.5% save percentage while only allowing four goals total. Duryea collected 23 to start the week in non-conference play and followed with 11 more in GNAC action to total 34 saves on the week.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Braxton Bragg, Emmanuel (Fr., A)

First-year attacker Braxton Bragg had a solid outing for the Saints in a 1-1 week as the Warwick, R.I. native totaled nine points from seven goals and two assists with eight ground balls on the week. Bragg started in non-conference play at UMass Boston with a hat trick (85.7% shot on goal) and one assist with three ground balls before following up against the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) with four goals and an assist with five ground balls in their conference-opening matchup.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

DaKari Coleman, Albertus Magnus - Put up 12 points with nine goals and three assists, 10 of those points coming from a GNAC victory over Mitchell (eight goals and two assists). Collected 14 ground balls and went 23-for-29 in faceoff attempts as well.

Jeremy Tremblay, Albertus Magnus - Scored 11 goals on the week for Albertus Magnus with seven of them coming in a conference win over Mitchell. Collected 10 ground balls on the week as well.

Diego Alvarez-Segee, Dean - Collected six goals and an assist for seven points along with five ground balls and three caused turnovers in a GNAC win over New England College.

Colby Enos, Emmanuel - Collected 35 saves in a 1-1 week for Emmanuel, 28 of them coming in a match-up with UMass Boston.

Colin LeBaron, Lasell - Collected a hat trick in GNAC victory over Johnson & Wales.

Michael Ference, Rivier - Scored a hat trick on four shots on goal (75%) and added two assists for five points in a 16-5 win over the University of New England.

Sawyer Gagnon, Rivier - Made eight stops on 13 shots on target for a 61.5% save percentage.
