USJ, Dean Advance to 2024 GNAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship

GNAC MEN'S LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

WINTHROP, Mass. – No. 1 South seed University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) and No. 2 South seed Dean will faceoff in the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Lacrosse Championship game after both teams won their GNAC Semifinals on Wednesday (May 1) evening. The Blue Jays will host the championship on Saturday, May 4 at 1 p.m.

Both semifinal games were tight to the end as USJ squeaked out at 7-6 victory over No. 3 South seed Lasell and the Bulldogs bested No. 1 North seed Rivier, 13-11.

The Blue Jays and Bulldogs advancing means that there will be a new GNAC Champion in 2024 as the both programs are in search of their first-ever GNAC Men's Lacrosse title. USJ was the GNAC Tournament runner-up a year ago, while Dean is making its first GNAC Championship appearance since joining the league in the 2020-21 academic year.

During the regular season, the two teams tied at the top of the South Division with identical 5-1 South Division records. However, USJ earned the higher seed thanks to its head-to-head 15-11 on March 30.

The winner of Saturday's Championship game will be named the 2024 GNAC Men's Lacrosse Champion and earning the league's automatic qualifier into the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship.
