GNAC Off. Player of the Year Sydney Gonyea named NFHCA Third Team All-American

MANAHAWKIN, N.J. - The 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Offensive Player of the Year and Simmons field hockey senior forward Sydney Gonyea received National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-America honors as announced by the NFHCA on Tuesday morning (Dec. 17). She was one of 48 student-athletes across the nation to be selected as an All-American. Gonyea landed a spot on the Third Team nationally after earning NFHCA First Team All-Region honors nearly a couple of weeks ago.

The Lebanon, N.H. native had a remarkable season offensively as she led the conference in goals (26), points (62), and shots (105). Gonyea's offensive production was recognized statistically nationally as she finished third in the country in goals and points. The senior forward reached the 200 career point mark this past season as well in conference play. Her efforts on the field helped guide the Sharks to an 18-3 regular season record (10-2 in GNAC play) and an appearance in this year's GNAC Conference Championship game.
