The New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) has released its 2009 All-New England DIII Baseball teams and six Great Northeast Athletic Conference players have been honored. Saint Joseph’s junior Pat Moran ’10 (Winterport, ME) and Suffolk senior Tim Doyle (Milton, MA) both garnered first team honors as a designated hitter and pitcher, respectively. Earning third team honors for St. Joseph’s are junior first basemen Ben Grant-Roy (Biddeford, ME) and sophomore utility player Chris Campbell (Rochester, NH). Earning third team honors for Suffolk are junior catcher Bobby Barrett (Milton, MA) and senior pitcher Dan Delia (Boston, MA).

Moran, also the Monks’ top pitcher who was also named the GNAC Player and Pitcher of the Year, is coming off of one of the most impressive seasons posted by a two-way player in recent memory. The junior hit .411 (46-112) with 11 home runs, a team-high, and 44 runs batted in. Moran led the GNAC in home runs and slugging percentage (.813) in 2009. On the hill, the tall right-hander posted a 3.88 ERA with 75 strikeouts, against just six walks, in 62 2/3 innings and was 8-1 with a pair of saves.

Doyle, who became the Rams top starter down the stretch finished the season with a perfect 7-0 record in eight starts. Doyle's 2.18 earned run average was among the nation's best, while opponents only managed a .232 batting average against the righty. Doyle was also named a first team All-Conference selection by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). Doyle was the winner in game one of the GNAC Tournament as he pitched the Rams to a 4-2 victory over Albertus Magnus College as the Rams went on to win the conference title.

Grant-Roy and Campbell, both All-Conference First Team selections, played pivotal roles in the Monks offensive onslaught which broke six team records, including runs per game (9.8), in 2009. Grant-Roy hit .384 (56-146) with 17 doubles, seven long balls and 41 RBI while providing the Royal Blue with superb defense at first base. Campbell, who logged time at second base, shortstop, third base and left field as a sophomore, enjoyed a breakout season in 2009. He hit .423 (63-149) with 43 runs, 28 RBI and eight stolen bases as a key offensive catalyst for the Monks offensive machine.

Delia and Barrett were both selected GNAC All-Conference members, Delia earning second team honors and Barrett earning first team honors for 2009. Delia was named an NEIBA for the second year in a row (2nd team selection in 2008). Delia was the Rams' most consistent pitcher in 2009 appearing in 16 games, finishing the season with a record of 7-2 with three saves and an ERA of 3.22. Delia picked up the 20th win of his career defeating Brandeis, 10-2 on May 2nd. He also set the career record for most appearances (58) on the mound for Suffolk's baseball program. Barrett finished 2009 with a .374 batting average, seven home runs and 68 RBI. The 68 runs batted in set a new Suffolk single season record. He also amassed 103 total bases that included 14 doubles, five triples on 58 totals hits on the season. Barrett also appeared in 30 games behind the dish for the Rams, guiding the Suffolk pitching staff to a GNAC-best 4.32 team ERA.
