GNAC Women's Volleyball Athlete of the Week Report #1

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Peyton Oliver, Johnson & Wales (Sr., OH)

Senior Peyton Oliver had a strong showing at the Morrisville Tournament for Johnson & Wales. She helped the Wildcats to a 1-2 record while averaging 3.18 kills, 1.91 digs, and 0.64 blocks per set. Oliver recorded double-digit kills in each contest, starting with 16 in a win over Geneva. She also had six digs, three aces, and two blocks in that contest, contributing to a 6.8 points per set average. She followed that up with 14 kills, eight digs, and three more blocks in a four-set loss to Morrisville State. She concluded the week with 16 kills, seven digs, and two blocks in a four-set defeat at the hands of Widener.

SETTER OF THE WEEK

Ahnasia Mckinney, Regis (Sr., S)

Senior Ahnasia Mckinney helped Regis to a 2-1 record this week at the Roger Williams Invitational. She had double-digit assists in all three contests, averaging 8.17 per set. Mckinney opened the week with 24 assists in a four-set setback against Clark on Friday (Sept. 1) before handing out 31 helpers in a sweep of Wellesley on Saturday (Sept. 2). She concluded the tournament with a career-high 43 assists in a five-set, come-from-behind victory over the host Hawks. She also had 11 digs against RWU, giving the Pride senior her ninth career double-double. In addition to her assists numbers, Mckinney also had 11 kills, 26 digs, and five blocks on the week.

LIBERO OF THE WEEK

Emily Hart, Regis (Fr., L)

First-year Emily Hart slid into the libero spot for Regis in the second set of the Pride's season-opener against Clark on Friday (Sept. 1). That match started her streak of three-consecutive double-digit dig performances as she recorded 10 pickups against the Cougars. On day two of the invitational, Hart had back-to-back 19 dig performances, first in a three-set sweep of Wellesley, then in a five-set, come-from-behind win over Roger Williams. For the week, she averaged 4.36 digs per set, while also handing out six assists and recording her first career ace.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Bliss Brown, Mitchell (Fr., S)

First-year setter Bliss Brown did a little bit of everything in her first week as a collegiate student-athlete for Mitchell. She averaged 5.50 assists, 2.50 digs, and 1.39 kills per set as her team pulled out a pair of season-opening victories against Anna Maria and Curry. First in a three-set sweep of the AMCATS, Brown handing out 19 assists with five kills and seven digs. She followed that up with her first-career double-double, recording 25 assists and 13 digs in a five-set win over Curry. She also had six kills against the Colonels.

WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Amanda Zdru, Albertus Magnus - Posted back-to-back double-digit dig showings with 16 against Old Westbury and 25 against Salem State. Finished the week averaging 4.56 digs per set.

Allison Blum, Mitchell - Tallied 22 kills across two matches. Added 28 digs, eight service aces, and one assist. Recorded a double-double in five set victory over Curry with 17 kills and 18 digs. Reached double digit digs against Anna Maria, finishing with five kills and 10 digs in 3-0 victory.

Julia Lent, Mitchell - Recorded double-digit digs in both matcheson the week. Finished with 10 digs in straight-set victory over Anna Maria. Followed that up with 16 digs in five-set win over Curry. Averaged 3.25 digs per set on the week.

Sarah DeBot, Norwich - Posted 59 digs across three matches to go with a kill, four assists, and six service ages. In Norwich's dominant sweep over Vermont State Lyndon at the Vermont Volleyball Classic, DeBot tallied 18 digs, an assist, and four service aces.

Kamdyn Tenorio, Regis - Collected nine kills and 14 digs against Clark on Friday. Saturday, she started with nine kills, four service aces, and 13 digs in a sweep over Wellesley. Then led the Pride with a career-high 17 kills, hitting .295 in the process, and added 15 digs as the Pride rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat host Roger Williams, 3-2. It was her eighth career double-double.

Ryan Hicks, Rivier - Dished out 61 assists (7.63 a/set) in a 1-2 weekend at the Springfield College Invitational.
