GNAC Women's Volleyball Report: Week 3

( FOR THE WEEK OF SEPT. 13 - 19 )

PLAYER / ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Masina Tupea, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Fy, OH - Aiea, Hawaii) - Tupea helped the Wildcats to a 2-1 record this week, totaled 37 kills over the three completed matches for Johnson & Wales. In a conference matchup against the Colby-Sawyer Chargers, Tupea totaled 19 kills and 11 digs, her highest output of the week. In two non-conference tilts against UNE and Keene St, she totaled 18 kills and 11 digs. On the week, she averaged 4.11 kills per set with a .377 hitting percentage, while adding 22 digs and seven service aces. 

LIBERO OF THE WEEK

Sofia Pawlusik, Rivier (So., LB - Burnt Hills, NY) - Pawlusik averaged an impessive 4.42 digs per set in a three-game week for the Raiders, highlighted by a 24-dig performance in a 3-1 setback at Keene State. 
 

HONOR ROLL

Govanna Rosado, Elms (Senior, S) - Rosado averaged 9.67 assists and 1.67 service aces per set in a 3-0 win at USJ.
 
Emily Corbett, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Jr., L/DS - Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) - Corbett was vital in two victory for the Wildcats this week, totaling 38 digs over her three matches. Against Colby-Sawyer in a conference tilt, Corbett had 16 digs and two service aces, helping the Wildcats to a 3-1 win. Against UNE and Keene St., she added 22 more digs with one service ace. On the week, Corbett averaged 3.8 digs per set and 4.0 digs per set in conference, while adding seven assists. 
 
Tori Scambray, Lasell (Fr., OH - Brea, Calif.) - Scambray averaged 2.35 kills and 2.59 digs per set with a .198 attack percentage in a 3-1 week for the Lasers. She recorded a pair of double-doubles with 13 kills and 13 digs in a five-set win over Wentworth and 16 kills and 11 digs in a five-set victory over Worcester State.
 
Kathryn Farnum, Norwich (Sr., OH - North Andover, Mass.) - Farnum averaged 4.00 kills per set in Norwich's two contests last week, while tieing her season high 15 kills in a straight-set victory on Sept. 18 at Salem State. Farnum also hit .308 throughout the week to go with 2.33 digs and 0.50 blocks per set.
 
Laura Farnum, Norwich (So., DS - North Andover, Mass.) - Farnum served as Norwich's Libero in Saturday's contest at Salem state where she picked up and assist, service ace, as well as was a key defensive component with 20 digs in the match.
 
Kai Berning, Regis (Mass.) (Fy., OH/RS - Corvallis, Ore.) - Berning did not commit an attack error in any of the three matches over the past week as Regis won all three. Their top performance came in the first match against Fitchburg State Saturday, as they led the team with 10 kills on 15 attack attempts without an error for a .667 hitting percentage. Berning also contributed in other phases, picking up an assist in each match as well as two service aces, four digs, and one block assist during the week. 
 
Rita Dow, Regis (Mass.) (Jr., M - Nashua, N.H.) - Dow was a consistent presence in the Regis lineup throughout the week as the Pride extended their winning streak to five matches, averaging 2.25 kills and 0.88 service aces per set on a .484 hitting percentage. In Saturday's doubleheader against Fitchburg State, she collected 14 kills on 20 attack attempts with just one error for a .650 hitting percentage during the day. In the second match Saturday, Dow also picked up four service aces and three total blocks. For the season, Dow leads the team and is sixth in the GNAC in hitting percentage at .314, plus she is second on the team in total blocks (13) and third in kills (50) and service aces (11).
  
Lily Sills, Rivier (Fr., MH - Carlisle, Mass.) - Sills has been one of the biggest options for the Raiders offense so far through this season. This week she put up double digit kills in all three matches. Her best being against Maine Maritime when she finished with 12 kills. Overall she compiled 32 kills this week along with six service aces, eight digs, and six blocks. 
 
Sarah Quinn, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (Senior, MB - Dover, N.H.) - Quinn posted a .481 attack percentage and averaged 2.00 kills per set in a pair of wins last week. On Saturday, the senior middle blocker delivered 11 kills in a win over UMaine-Presque Isle and added five kills in one set of a 3-0 triumph over NVU-Lyndon.
 
Sydney Iannantuono, Simmons (Junior, OH - East Lyme, Conn.) - Iannantuono posted her fourth straight double-double against undefeated MIT (RV) last Thursday evening. Against the Engineers, the veteran outside hitter posted a .333 attack percentage, tallying 10 kills on 24 attempts with just two errors, while also notching 10 defensive digs.
