BRIGHTON, Mass. – Third seed Simmons tennis (8-5, 5-2 GNAC) advances to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) semifinals following a 5-0 shutout of the sixth-seed University of St. Joseph (Conn.) (3-8, 1-6 GNAC), Wednesday afternoon.

The Sharks move on to the GNAC semifinals where they will travel to Weston, Mass. to face the second-seed Regis College at noon this Saturday.

The Sharks wasted very little time and jumped out to a quick 3-0 advantage with a sweep of doubles. Seniors Sam Margolin and Leah Bonis opened the day with an 8-1 win over Julia Michaud and Bernae Webb in third doubles while sophomore Avery Halloran and junior Olga Zhizhin took first singles, 8-4.

Reigning GNAC Rookie of the Week Annabelle Halloran and senior Libby Weed continued their late success as doubles partners. The pair squeaked out the second doubles win, 8-7 (6-4), over Liliana Garcia and Ananya Srivatsav to put the Sharks in the driver's seat.

Only needing two wins to move on to date with the second seed Regis College in the semifinals, Margolin picked up the two-set, 6-4, 6-2, win over Gia Alvarez in sixth singles. First-year Annabelle Halloran sealed the match knocking of Srivatsav in two sets, 6-3, 7-5, in fourth singles.
