Colby-Sawyer, Regis Receive GNAC Women's Tennis Tournament First-Round Byes

Simmons, Lesley to host
first-round matches on Wednesday
 
WINTHROP, Mass. – Top-seeded Colby-Sawyer College (6-0) and second-seeded Regis College (5-1) have earned first-round byes in the 2022 GNAC Women's Tennis Tournament following the regular-season's conclusion this weekend.
 
CSC swept through the GNAC schedule with an unblemished 6-0 record, as Barry Schoonmaker's Chargers' program are in search of their second straight GNAC team title and third overall in four years. Colby-Sawyer dropped just two sets against GNAC competition.
 
Regis' only loss in GNAC play came at the hands of Colby-Sawyer (9-0) this past Friday, but rebounded to take down Simmons University, 8-1, on Saturday to cement the bye and No. 2 seed. 
 
As the No. 3 seed, Simmons will host sixth-seeded University of Saint Joseph (CT) this Wednesday, October 12, while fifth-seeded Eastern Nazarene College travels to play fourth-seeded Lesley University at Harvard. The ENC/Lesley winner will travel to Colby-Sawyer in the semifinals next Saturday, Oct. 15, with Regis drawing the USJ/Simmons winner the same day.
 
The highest remaining seed will host the GNAC Championship in two weeks on Saturday, Oct. 22, with an automatic berth to the 2023 NCAA Division III Tournament on the line for next spring.

#5 Eastern Nazarene vs. #4 Lesley (at Harvard Beren Tennis Center) - 3:00 PM
#6 USJ (CT) at #3 Simmons (Daly Field) - 2:30 PM
 
Semifinals - Saturday, October 15
4/5 winner at #1 Colby-Sawyer - 2:00 PM
3/6 winner at #2 Regis - 12:00 PM
 
Championship - Saturday, October 22
at highest remaining seed
