GNAC Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week Report #4

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

Megan Miller, Regis (Sr.)

Senior Megan Miller helped lead Regis to a victory over Plymouth State Friday (Nov. 3). The senior touched the wall first two times for the Pride in individual event victories, placing first in the 50-yard backstroke (30.54) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.77). Both of these times were season marks for Miller. She also led the Pride to a team victory in the 200-yard medley relay, placing a season-best time of 2:03.62. Lastly, the senior finished second for Regis individually in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:14.42.

DIVER OF THE WEEK

Reilly Laitala, Norwich (So.)

Sophomore Reilly Laitala found herself atop diving event leaderboards three times this past weekend, helping the Cadets earn two meet victories. First, she won the first one-meter diving event at Maine Maritime on Saturday (Nov. 4) with a score of 144.44 and then placed second a few events later (173.22). Then on Sunday (Nov. 5) at Husson, Laitala took home a pair of first-place victories in the same events, with scores of 196.40 and 167.15.

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Kenzie Lowry, Simmons (Fr.)

First-year Kenzie Lowry recorded three individual top-collegiate times for Simmons in a dual-meet against Wellesley and Merrimack this past Saturday (Nov. 4). Lowry was one of two Sharks to finish top-five in the 200-yard freestyle (2:09.80). In the 50-yard freestyle, she finished fourth with a time of 26:39 and finished with a time of 57.81 in the 100-yard freestyle.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Anna Gosselin, Norwich – Took home four first-place finishes against Maine Maritime and Husson this weekend, winning the 200-, 500-, and 1000-yard freestyles as well as the 100-yard IM individually, while also swimming the second leg of the pool-record setting 200-yard relay team (1:49.83).

Hannah Shaner, Norwich – Captured four individual event victories for the Cadets in the 100- and 1000-yard freestyles, 200-yard backstroke, and 400-yard IM while also helping the victorious 200-yard freestyle relay team.

Kiley Matthews, Saint Joseph’s (Maine.) – Finished first for the Monks in two individual events (50-yard and 100-yard freestyles) and swam a leg for the Monks’ winning 400-yard freestyle relay (4:03.09) in a home-tri meet against the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) and Albertus Magnus.
