INTERACTIVE BRACKET

INDIANAPOLIS – Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Soccer Champion Johnson & Wales will open the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship with a trip to Ewing, N.J. to take on No. 15 TCNJ in the first round on Saturday, Nov. 11.

The Wildcats were one of 41 team to earn their way into this year's tournament field by winning their conference's automatic qualifier. The entire 64-team field was announced on Monday afternoon during the NCAA.com Selection Show.

JWU's regular season was a strong one, sporting an 18-2-3 overall (15-0 GNAC) record heading into the national tournament. It was the No. 1 seed in the GNAC Championship Tournament, besting No. 9 seed Elms, and No. 4 seed Colby-Sawyer handily to earn a shot at the league title. The Wildcats outlasted No. 2 seed Emmanuel, 2-1, in the championship match to claim the AQ.

Their first round opponent, TCNJ, which currently sits at No. 15 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA DIII National Poll, carries a 15-2-1 (8-1 NJAC) record into the bracket. The Lions were also the beneficiary of an automatic qualifier as they won the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) championship.

TCNJ is one of sixteen four-team sites that are hosting first and second round games. Joining the Wildcats and Lions are Franklin and Marshall (12-3-4 overall, 6-2-2 Centennial) and Tufts (7-5-4 overall, 3-4-3 NESCAC), two of 23 teams to earn at-large selections into this year's tournament.

The winners of the two first round games in Ewing will play a second round game on Sunday, Nov. 12.

The Second Round winners from the opening weekend will advance to one of four sectional sites with competition set to take place on either Friday-Saturday, Nov. 17-18 or Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 18-19. The four section winners will advance to the semifinals and finals on Thursday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 2 at Kerr Stadium in Salem, Va. Roanoke and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference will serve as hosts.
