GNAC Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week Report #7

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Frida Turriza, Simmons (Jr., A)

Junior attacker Frida Turriza guided Simmons offensively to a 2-0 week in conference play. Against New England College, the junior scored six goals, hoisting a shot on goal percentage of 86.7 percent (13-for-15) while collecting six ground balls, winning seven draw controls, and causing three turnovers in the GNAC victory. Turriza would follow up with a career-best nine goals in a victory against Norwich, going a perfect 10-for-10 on shot on goal attempts. She collected three ground balls and won seven draw controls as well in the contest.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Isabella Thomas, Emmanuel (Jr., GK)

Junior goalkeeper Isabella Thomas picked up two road conference victories in the cage this past week for Emmanuel. Thomas collected six saves against Anna Maria while only allowing two goals. She proceeded to follow up with another six saves while giving up only four goals against Rivier. Thomas collected 12 saves on the week.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Audrey Mason, Regis (Fr., M)

First-year midfielder Audrey Mason had a solid week on both sides of the field for Regis. Mason started the week scoring two goals and collected five ground balls in a GNAC match-up against Johnson & Wales. The first-year followed up with a hat trick and an assist offensively for four points in a victory over Elms. She also notched six ground balls, three draw controls, and three caused turnovers in the game as well.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Madeline Wright, Emmanuel – Tallied 11 points on nine goals and two assists in undefeated conference play for the Saints. Collected eight ground balls and seven caused turnovers as well.

Madeleine Gould, Johnson & Wales – Racked up five goals, six assists, 12 draw controls, and seven ground balls in two GNAC victories for the Wildcats.

Teresa Kessner, Lasell – Tallied 13 points on 11 goals and two assists in a 1-1 week for the Lasers. Scored seven in a win against Dean.

Nathalie Antigua, New England College – Scored eight goals and collected two assists for ten points for the Pilgrims in a 1-1 week.

Sarah Lachance, Rivier – Collected seven goals and three assists for 10 points in a 1-1 week. Won 14 draw controls as well for the Raiders.

Carson Battaglia, Saint Joseph’s (Maine) – Posted six goals and nine ground balls with two assists, three draw controls, and two caused turnovers in a win over Anna Maria.
