GNAC Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week Report #5

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Cassie Kelly, New England College (Sr., M)

Senior midfielder Cassie Kelly had a stellar all-around performance for the Pilgrims this past week. In their lone game against Dean, Kelly put up six goals and one assist for seven points on the offensive attack. The senior collected 15 ground balls, won five draw controls, and had an outstanding 13 caused turnovers. Those caused turnovers not only broke the school record but she also tied for the most caused turnovers in a game thus far in the nation according to the latest NCAA statistics.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

AJ Paton, Colby-Sawyer (Jr., GK)

Junior goalkeeper AJ Paton was a force at the cage for the Chargers in their lone game of the week. Paton stopped nine shots in 48 minutes of action while only allowing one goal, collecting a save percentage of 90.0 percent, and picking up the victory for Colby-Sawyer in a GNAC tilt against Simmons.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Audrey Mason, Regis (Fr., M)

First-year midfielder Audrey Mason had a solid all-around week for the Pride, helping them get to 2-0 in conference play. She registered a hat trick for Regis as well as winning eight draw controls and causing a turnover in a victory over Mitchell. Mason followed up against Albertus Magnus with another hat trick and collected two assists for five points. In addition, the first year collected five ground balls, four draw controls and six caused turnovers in the victory.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Heather Hanson, Colby-Sawyer – Collected six points (five goals, one assist) as well as five ground balls and caused turnovers each in a win over Simmons.

Madeline Wright, Emmanuel – Tallied 10 points (nine goals, one assist) while winning 11 draw controls in a 2-1 week.

Teresa Kessner, Lasell – Scored six goals and assisted twice for eight points in a win over Rhode Island College.

Hope Alto, Regis – Scored seven goals, collected six ground balls and won 19 draw controls for the Pride in an undefeated week.

Sarah Lachance, Rivier – Collected 14 points from 10 goals and four assists while collecting five ground balls and winning seven draw controls.
