The NCAA Field Is Set; Rivier Earns #5 Seed

Nashua, NH - The Rivier College Raiders earned the #5 seed in the 2010 NCAA Regional Tournament that will be held at Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA. The Raiders will face #4 seed Bowdoin College in the first round of the double elimination tournament.

The Raiders (32-4, 23-1 GNAC) advanced to the NCAA Tournament after winning the Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship back on April 25th.  The Raiders beat Emerson College in 8 innings, 1-0, to gain the GNAC automatic bid into this years NCAA tournament.  This marks the second time in the last three year's that the Raiders have earned their way into the NCAA tournament.

The Raiders will face #4 seeded Bowdoin Collegeon Thursday, May 13 at 12:00 PM.  The Polar Bears, who have posted a program-best 33-12 campaign this spring, earned a Pool C "at-large" selection after losing in the NESCAC finals to Wesleyan College on Sunday.  This is the first time in program history that the Polar Bears have made a trip to the NCAA tournament.

The winner advances to play the winner of the Eastern Connecticut/Husson game at 2:00 p.m. Friday, while the loser will play in an elimination game at 10:00 a.m. Friday.
