WESTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph’s (Maine) defended its Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field title over the weekend, scoring 283 points at the 2024 GNAC Championship meet at Regis.

Saint Joe’s not only claimed the team championship, it also claimed titles in 15 of 21 events conducted as this year’s championship. Haytham Ramadan earned three of them on his own as he was the 2024 GNAC Champion in the 800m, 1500m, and 5K, recording respective times of 1:58.91, 4:10.68, and 16:35.99. Andrew James’ shot put victory and Wesley Hundley’s win in the hammer throw gave the Monks a clean sweep of the throwing events. James mark was 13.14m (43’1.25”), while Hundley recorded a distance of 37.43m (122’10”).

It didn’t matter whether it was sprints or distance races as the Monks continued to dominate on the track. Younton Diamond Doe won the 100m dash with a time of 11.17, while Abdirizak Abukar took the 200m dash, clocking in at 21.91. Jacob Schmader took gold in the 400m dash with a time of 50.71. In the longer races, Nick Carmosino was the steeplechase champion with a time of 10:47.07 and Ryan Graham crossed the 10K finish line in 36:00.21 to take gold. The Monks also won all three relays at the meet. In the 4x100 they clocked in at 42.79, in the 4x400 they registered a time of 3:28.61, and in the 4x800 they finished in 8:25.01.

The GNAC runner-up Pride claimed three individual titles with all three going to Justin Thuotte. Thuotte showed out in the horizontal jumps, winning both the long jump and triple jump. In the long jump, he recorded a mark of 6.32m (20’8.75”) and in the triple jump he landed 13.39m (43’11.25”) on his final attempt to take first. Thuotte’s final gold-medal performance came in the pole vault as he cleared 3.80m (12’5.5”).

Emmanuel did not have any individual champions, but did have several medal-caliber performances. Pierre Paul Labossiere earned 19 individual points for the Saints, including a silver-medal showing in the triple jump and bronze-medal marks in both the high jump and long jump.

Colby-Sawyer’s Chase Adams was the top performer in both hurdle events, winning the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.73 and the 400m hurdles by finishing in 55.27.

Nathaniel Gonzalez was the last remaining individual champion, representing Lasell. He won the high jump, clearing a height of 1.82m (5’11.75”).

All the individual champions, along with the other medalists will be named to the GNAC All-Conference Team with the major awards voted on at a later time by the league's head coaches.
