GNAC Indoor Track & Field Report: Week 5

( FOR THE WEEK OF JANUARY 20 - 26 )

MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Robert Solari, Suffolk (So., East Bridgewater, Mass)

At Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Invitational, Robert Solari put together a personal-record and GNAC-leading time in the 400, at 51.11 to finish 78th in the field of 126, which featured runners from across all NCAA Divisions

 

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Emily Manfra, Suffolk (Sr., Stoneham, Mass.)

Manfra put together the second-best NCAA Division III team in the mile, clocking in a personal-best 4:54.54 to finish 17th at Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Invitational, which featured runners from the top track & field programs like Texas and regional Division I powerhouses Boston College, Harvard, Yale.

MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Michael Balestra, Suffolk (So., Lincoln, R.I.)

Balestra took fourth out of 18 in the weight throw at MIT's Art Farnham Invitational behind a 15.03 showing.

 

WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Elisabeth Cooke, Regis (Sr., East Longmeadow, Mass.)

Cooke posted two top-10 finishes Saturday at the Massasoit Classic hosted by Springfield College. She finished in ninth place in both the weight throw at 11.59 meters (38' 0.25") and the shot put at 10.05 meters (32' 11.75").

 

MEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Connor Baston, Suffolk (Fr., Bristol, Conn.)

Baston sprinted for Suffolk at Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Invitational. He put together a 60-meter dash time of 7.42 and lowered his GNAC leading time in the 200 with a personal-best 23.15, which put the rookie in 128th out of 191 runners.

 

WOMEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Teague Tallo, Emmanuel (Fr., Lincoln, R.I.)

Tallo recorded two year-best throws at the University of Southern Maine Invite. Tallo finished the day with a ninth place finish in the weight throw (12.33m) and a 17th place finish in the shot put (9.59m)


WEEK 5 HONOR ROLL

Peter Bakker, Colby-Sawyer (Sr., Barkhamsted, Conn.) - Bakker finished second in the 5k with a personal best time of 15:47.77 to collect eight of the team's 12 points at Saturday's Southern Maine Invitational.

Kennedy Davigon, Emmanuel (So., Woodstock, Conn.) - In her third collegiate meet, Davignon ranked amongst some of the highest in the GNAC with a ninth place performance in the 400 meter final with a time of 1:05.72.

Amanda Jordan, Emmanuel (Jr., Stoneham, Mass.) - Jordan broke the school record for triple jump in the University of Southern Maine Invite on January 25th. Her afternoon concluded with a best 10.36 meters, awarding her eighth place.

Ashleigh Kelley, Regis (So., Stoneham, Mass.) - Kelley led Regis College at Springfield College's Massasoit Classic Saturday. First, she finished fourth in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:12.85. Kelley then anchored the distance medley relay team to a new school record as the squad finished third in the event in 13:56.43, over 20 seconds faster than the previous record established over 20 years ago. 

JJ Pedersen, Regis (Sr., Milford, Conn.) - Pedersen broke his third school record of the indoor season Saturday at Springfield College's Massasoit Classic. He finished second in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:41.81, almost two seconds quicker than the previous record set last year. He also anchored the distance medley relay team as it established a new school record with a total time of 11:30.85, finishing second in that event

Troy Hendricks, Saint Joesph's (Me.) (So., Hiram, Maine) - Hendricks won the 1-Mile run and broke the program record by nearly seven seconds with a 4:31.58 time at University of Southern Maine on Saturday

Kaylee Todisco, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (So., Wilmington, Mass.) - Todisco broke her program record and finished sixth overall in the 55-Meter dash (7.67) at University of Southern Maine on Saturday

Simon Vinci, Saint Joseph's (Maine) Fr., Peabody, Mass.) - Vinci was the top DIII finisher and placed second overall in the Shot Put (14.19m) and was 11th in the Weight Throw (12.10m) at University of Southern Maine on Saturday.

Allison Rodrigues, Suffolk (So., North Andover, Mass.) - Finished third out of 13 in the shot put at MIT's Art Farnham Invitational with a toss of 10.58 meters and put together a sixth-place showing in the weight throw behind a top of 10.79
