GNAC Indoor Track & Field Report: Week 4

( FOR THE WEEK OF JANUARY 13 - 19 )

WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Mariama Kamara, Suffolk (Sr., Chelsea, Mass.)

Kamara qualified for New Englands in the 60-meter dash behind a 8.10 time, which is the top in the GNAC this season, at the Tufts Invitational Saturday. Her performance put the senior second overall in the field of 25.

MEN'S ATHLETE / ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Simon Vinci, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (Fr., Peabody, Mass.)

Vinci placed third in the shot put with a 13.67m toss at the Bates College Invitational on Saturday.

 

 

WOMEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Laurel Blackman, Colby-Sawyer (Fr., Fairfield, Conn.)

Blackman kept her impressive indoor season going with a second place finish in the pole vault at Saturday's Mary Grinaker Invitational hosted by Smith College. She registered a height of 2.80 meters and was very close to achieving a school record.


WEEK 4 HONOR ROLL

Amanda Jordan, Emmanuel (Jr., Stoneham, Mass.) - Jordan qualified for New England's this weekend at the Mary Grinaker Invitational. She registered a personal record in the high jump, winning the event with a 1.56 meter finish.

Cole Anderson, Regis (Jr., Falmouth, Maine) - At Smith's Mary Grinaker Invitational Saturday, Anderson produced Regis' best placements of the day, first finishing fourth in the weight throw with a personal best mark of 14.06 meters (46' 1.5"). Anderson also earned a personal best mark in the shot put, ending up seventh in that event at 12.26 meters (40' 2.75")

Maddie Boucias, Regis (Sr., Buckland, Mass.) - At the Mary Grinaker Invitational hosted by Smith on Saturday, Boucias posted indoor collegiate best times in both events she competed in. After finishing 16th in the one mile run with a time of 5:46.13, Boucias finished in eighth place overall in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:31.75.

Lillian Bisset, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Sr., Jefferson, Maine) - Bisset placed second in the Long Jump (4.13m) and third in the 60-Meter Hurdles (10.56) at the Bates College Invitational on Saturday.

 Lance Santeusanio III, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Jr., North Berwick, Maine) - Santeusanio finished as the runner-up in the High Jump (1.80m) and Long Jump (5.96m) events at the Bates College Invitational on Saturday.

Connor Baston, Suffolk (Fr., Bristol, Conn.) - Baston ran the 60-meter dash and the 200 at the Tufts Invitational Saturday. His highlight performance was in the 200 where he put together the fastest time in the GNAC this year, 23.58, to claim fourth in the field of 35. He finished the 60-meter dash in 7.39 to take 11th out of 32.

Robert Solari, Suffolk (So., East Bridgewater, Mass.) - Solari represented the Rams on the track and in the jumping events at the Tufts Invitational Saturday. He put together the second-best high jump in the GNAC this season, clearing 1.80 meters good for seventh place in the NESCAC heavy event. On the track, he clocked in a 24.15 200-meter run to finish 14th out of 35.
