( FOR THE WEEK of DEC. 9 - 15 )

CO-MEN'S ATHLETE / CO-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Simon Vinci, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Fr., Peabody, Mass.)

Vinci shattered his SJC program shotput record, which he had just set the week prior, with a 14.50-meter toss to win the event at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday. His performance currently ranks as the top distance in the New England Region and is 20th nationally through two weeks of competition.

CO-MEN'S ATHLETE / CO-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Connor Baston, Suffolk (Fr., Bristol, Conn.)

Baston represented the Rams in the 60-meter dash and the 200 at Northeastern's Joe Donahue Games Saturday. He put together a conference-best time in both events -- 7.32 in the 60 for 24th and 23.40 in the 200 for 23rd. Both times also rank inside the Top 25 in NCAA Division III this season.

WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Emma Weisse, Suffolk (Sr., Hampden, Mass.)

After being sidelined throughout the cross country season with an injury, Emma Weisse made her senior season debut in winning fashion as she captured the 1000 at Northeastern's Joe Donahue Games Saturday. In a field that featured her teammates and runners from Scared Heart, Weisse clocked in a time of 3:11.59, 1.61 faster than runner-up Natalie DuBois of Scared Heart.

WOMEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Sarah Lawton, Suffolk (Fr., Dorchester, Mass.)

Lawton put together a personal-best record run in the 500 at Northeastern's Joe Donahue Games Saturday. Her 1:23.99 put her in the middle of the 16-runner field in 10th, the best showing by a Division III athlete in the event. That time is also the best by a GNAc runner this season.

WEEK 2 HONOR ROLL

Michael Balestra, Suffolk (So., Lincoln, R.I.) - Balestra continues to make his name known in the fielding events and did just that again this weekend at Northeastern's Joe Donahue Games. He became the first-ever Ram to break the 50-foot barrier in the weight throw with a personal-record 15.30 M toss, good for sixth out of 26 competitors.
