2024 GNAC Men's Tennis All-Conference Teams Announced

WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced its 2024 Men’s Tennis All-Conference Team and major award winners on Wednesday (May 1) afternoon. Eastern Nazarene had four student-athletes recognized marking the most among the group.

Voting was conducted by the league’s five men’s tennis head coaches following the regular season and did not take postseason play into account.

Eastern Nazarene was led all year by first-year student-athlete Dmitrii Semenov who was named both Player and Rookie of the Year. Colby-Sawyer head coach Barry Schoonmaker was selected as the Coach of the Year and Albertus Magnus won the Institutional Sportsmanship award.

The full list of All-Conference honorees and the representatives on the All-Sportsmanship Team can be viewed below.

PLAYER/ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

Dmitrii Semenov, Eastern Nazarene

Semenov established himself as Eastern Nazarene’s ace this year, playing primarily in the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles spots for the Lions. In singles play, he collected a 11-5 overall record, including a 3-0 mark in conference play during the regular season. In his 11 singles victories, Semenov only went to a third set once and had six matches in which he dropped two of fewer games in total. He also carried a 9-8 record in doubles play and went 3-0 in GNAC action. He picked up Rookie of the Week honors in the weeks ending March 17, March 24, and April 14.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Barry Schoonmaker, Colby-Sawyer

Schoonmaker put together another strong season for Colby-Sawyer, leading the Chargers to a 10-10 season in the regular season and a 3-1 mark in GNAC Play.
