MEN'S TENNIS: Eastern Nazarene & Ramapo Blank Opponents in GNAC Semifinals

QUINCY, Mass. – The top-seed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference North Division, the Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team downed second-seeded Colby-Sawyer 5-0 Saturday afternoon in the GNAC Tournament Semifinals at the ENC Tennis Courts.

The Lions improve to 15-7 on the year with the win and advance to the GNAC Championship in their first season as a league member. The Chargers finish the season with an 8-10 overall record following the loss.

For the third-straight match, the home team swept the three doubles positions to jump out to a 3-0 lead.

Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) and Julius Opaschowski (Hamburg, Germany) bested Julius Lowman and Alex Wright 8-1 at the top doubles spot.

Diego Rodriguez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Tim Schoengens (Inden, Germany) picked up their team-best 12th doubles victory with an 8-4 win over Erik Antonacci and Matt Burke at the No. 2 position.

Shaw Campbell (Redding, Calif.) and Kyle Pierson (Redding, Calif.) downed Mike White and Matt Williamson at the third doubles slot 8-4.

Eastern Nazarene netted a pair of wins in singles action to clinch a spot in the conference championship match for the third-consecutive year, having reached the Commonwealth Coast Conference finals in 2017 and 2018.

Pierson extended the Lions' lead to 4-0 with a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 5 singles position over Antonacci.

Moments later, Opaschowski clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 spot over White to collect his team-leading 15th singles win of the season.

Siercke, Rodriguez, and Schoengens all sported 1-0 leads when the match was called.

Eastern Nazarene will host Ramapo, the South Division's top-seeded squad and six-time defending league champions, in the GNAC Championship May 4.

NO. 1S Ramapo 5, NO. 2S Albertus Magnus 0 | BOX

MAHWAH, N.J. – The Ramapo College men's tennis team advanced to their seventh straight GNAC Conference Championship match with a 5-0 win over Albertus Magnus College today at the Athletic Center.
 
The Roadrunners who are ranked first in the south division will travel to Eastern Nazarene on Saturday, May 4th for the GNAC Championship. The Lions, who are ranked first in the north division, also won their semifinal match 5-0 earlier today.

Ramapo won all three doubles matches to earn three team points heading into singles play. Mike Abelev and Cyrus Dastparvardeh won at first singles, 8-1 while Alex Kogut and Seth Fry won at second doubles, 8-1. Kevin Ilinets and Bryce Blumenthal wrapped up the third team point at third doubles, also with an 8-1 win. Kogut, playing second singles, earned a 6-1, 6-1 win before Dastparvardeh wrapped up the semifinal win for Ramapo with a 6-1, 6-1 win at third singles.
