GNAC Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week Report #2

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Ryan Klopchin, Lasell (So., M)

Sophomore midfielder Ryan Klopchin came to the rescue for Lasell twice in a 2-0 week. On Tuesday (Sept. 5), Klopchin scored a pair against Anna Maria, one of which was a game-winner to defeat the AMCATS 2-1. Then on Saturday (Sept. 9), he registered another game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Emmanuel.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Liam Foley, Saint Joseph’s (Maine) (Jr., GK)

Junior goalkeeper Liam Foley led Saint Joseph’s (Maine) to a 2-0 week. Foley shut down his opponents on Tuesday (Sept. 5) and Saturday (Sept. 9) allowing no goals and registering 10 saves in 180 minutes of action for the Monks. Both matches left no room for error as SJC came away with two 1-0 victories against Dean and Johnson & Wales.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Jesse Jenkins, Mitchell (Fr., GK)

First-year goalkeeper Jesse Jenkins led Mitchell to a 1-0-1 week. Jenkins earned his first career start on Tuesday (Sept. 5) and notched a shutout over Elms, while registering five saves. On Saturday (Sept. 9), the first-year had five more saves in a 1-1 tie against Rivier.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Luke Palmer, Dean - Led the Bulldogs with three goals in a 1-1-1 week. Notched the first goal to help the team to a 5-2 home win over Fitchburg State. Finished the week scoring both of the team's goals to secure a GNAC road tie at New England College, 2-2.

Antonio Centracchio, Lasell - Recorded 17 saves this week, including 11 in a clean sheet victory over Emmanuel. Conceded only one goal in a 2-1 win over Anna Maria.

Javin Stickney, Regis - Scored his first two career goals to lead the Pride past Elms. His first goal came in the sixth minute, followed by his second tally just over six minutes later. It is the first brace by a Regis player since Marco Rivera scored twice as Regis defeated Elms, 3-0, on Oct. 4, 2021.
