NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College athletic department has named Pete Hamasian as the new men's head soccer coach. Hamasian has been an integral part of the Albertus athletics department for many years, first as a player and, more recently, as an assistant coach.

"I want to thank President Marc Camille and Director of Athletics Jim Abromaitis for giving me this opportunity to lead this program into the future", said Hamasian. "I am honored and grateful to be the next head coach at Albertus Magnus College and excited to get started."

Over the last three seasons, Hamasian has been involved with the Albertus Magnus men's soccer team as an assistant coach to former head coach Brett Colavolpe. During that span, the men's soccer team has compiled an overall record of 22-25-7 and has secured three consecutive GNAC tournament berths. In addition to the overall success of the Albertus Magnus Falcons, Hamasian also coached six players to All-Conference selections over his three years as an assistant.

"Pete brings a great deal of soccer experience to his new role as head coach", said Abromaitis. "His passion and knowledge of the sport is evident and his love of Albertus Magnus College will serve him well."

In addition to his coaching at Albertus Magnus, Hamasian also coaches club soccer at Farmington Sports Arena Football Club, Cheshire Soccer Club, and No. 1 Soccer Camps. He holds a USSF Class D Coaching License.

Prior to his successful coaching stint at Albertus, Hamasian was a volunteer assistant coach for the women's soccer team at University of New Haven from 2016-17.

Before getting his shot at collegiate coaching, Hamasian served as a varsity coach at West Haven High School for three seasons and found immediate success. Under his tutelage, the Blue Devils won over 30 games in Hamasian's three-year span at the helm. Hamasian also produced the Blue Devils first and only All-American soccer player.

Prior to the start of his coaching career, Hamasian was a four-year soccer player for the Albertus Magnus College Falcons. During his junior and senior seasons, Hamasian was named the team captain by former head coach Jim Bernardo. Hamasian helped guide the Falcons to 25 victories in his final two seasons, including a berth in the Great Northeast Conference Championship game in 2010. In addition, he also helped lead the Falcons to an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament berth in his senior season.

Hamasian earned his Bachelors of Science in Business Management from Albertus Magnus in 2011 and went on to earn his Master's in Management of Sports Industries from the University of New Haven in 2014.
