JWU places five on All-GNAC
teams, SJC places four on First Team

WINTHROP, Mass. – Albertus Magnus College junior forward Salah Oumorou has been named the 2019 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year, as voted upon by the league's 12 head coaches. The GNAC office also handed down its 2019 all-conference teams on Monday afternoon.

Oumorou paved the way among GNAC leaders in goals (21) and points (48) while also tying for fourth in the conference with six assists. The West Haven, Conn. native was also the league's Rookie of the Year and an All-GNAC First Team choice back in 2017.

Saint Joseph's College of Maine senior Noah Robinson was selected as the GNAC Defensive Player of the Year, as the Monks allowed a league-low three goals against across 11 GNAC contests. The defender started all 20 contests and registered eight goals and an assist as well.

An All-GNAC Second Team selection, Anna Maria College freshman forward Hezekiah Adeyeye was named the 2019 GNAC Rookie of the Year. The Woonsocket, R.I. native led the AMCATS offensively, finishing with 12 goals and 28 points, as both marks are good for fifth among GNAC leaders.

Saint Joseph's of Maine junior David Walbridge was voted the GNAC Goalkeeper of the Year, as the Hampden, Mass. native allowed just one goal (0.11 GAA) in 10 GNAC contests. In 19 games overall, he posted a 0.44 goals against average in 1648:23, stopping 37 of the 47 shots he faced on the season.

Lastly, Johnson & Wales University (RI) head coach Dave Kulik was selected as the GNAC Coach of the Year. Kulik's top-seeded Wildcats claimed their first GNAC Championship since 2015 on Saturday afternoon, besting second-seeded Saint Joseph's, 1-0, in double overtime.

JWU saw five named to the 2019 all-conference teams, as Kulik's program now prepares itself for the NCAA Division III Tournament this weekend. 

Joining Oumorou, Robinson and Walbridge on the First Team included Norwich University's Amerle Nemeye and the University of Saint Joseph's (CT) DeAnte Anderson at forward.

USJ's Anderson finished second in the GNAC in both goals (17) and points (38) and tied for third with five game-winners.

At midfielder, JWU's Nick Gutekunst, Norwich's Julio Arreola, and SJC's Mitchell Duncan and Jackson Taylor garnered selection, while JWU's Riley McNicholas and Norwich's Andrew Kalombo joined Robinson as a First Team defender.

Gutekunst helped guided JWU to the GNAC team title by registering 34 points entering NCAA play, as he is tied for third among GNAC leaders with 13 goals and tied for first with eight assists.
