GNAC Men's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week Report #4

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Diego Alvarez-Segee, Dean (Sr., F)

Senior forward Diego Alvarez-Segee led Dean on the attack this past week, giving the Bulldogs two GNAC victories. The senior scored five goals and assisted on two to earn seven points in a victory over Albertus Magnus. Alvarez-Segee would then follow up with another impressive offensive display against reigning conference champion Emmanuel as he scored seven goals and collected an assist for eight points. On the week, he posted 15 points (12 goals, three assists) to go with seven groundballs and three caused turnovers.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Chris April, Johnson & Wales (Sr., GK)

Senior goalkeeper Chris April picked up two victories in the cage for the Wildcats this past week. April picked up his first victory for Johnson & Wales against non-conference opponent Gordon in which the senior collected 25 saves while posting a save percentage of 83.3 percent. Then, he collected 13 saves in a GNAC victory over Saint Joseph’s (Maine). On the week, April collected 38 saves on a 73.1 save percentage, averaging 19 saves per contest.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Manny Alvarez-Segee, Dean (Fr., F)

First-year forward Manny Alvarez-Segee helped lead the Bulldogs on the offensive attack in a 2-0 week. Alvarez-Segee began the week with a hat trick and two assists for five points in a GNAC victory over Albertus Magnus. Then, he followed up with five more points from four goals and an assist in a victory over Emmanuel. The first-year finished the week with seven goals and three assists for 10 points for Dean.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Jeremy Tremblay, Albertus Magnus – Scored seven goals and assisted once for eight points on the week. Collected four ground balls and caused two turnovers.

Jack Jaynes, Regis – Collected nine points in a 1-1 week from six goals and three assists.

Michael Zapatka, Rivier – Recorded four goals, five assists, and five ground balls in a 1-1 week.

Sam Barbetti, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) – Recorded five goals and 21 ground balls on the week in a 2-0 week for the Blue Jays.

Tim Goodfellow, Saint Joseph’s (Maine) – Tallied 13 points with six goals and seven assists for the Monks. Picked up seven ground balls as well.
