NEWTON, Mass. – The Lasell University athletic department is pleased to announce that Dieter Treusdell has been named head men's lacrosse coach, effective immediately.

The associate head men's lacrosse coach at Vassar College the past three seasons after one year as a volunteer assistant, Treusdell was responsible for the Brewers' offense and coached a pair of USILA Division III All-Americans in 2020. He developed practice sessions for the team and served as the Director of Recruiting. He was also the top assistant and offensive coordinator at Bard College in 2017-18.

"We are excited to welcome Dieter to the Lasell community, and look forward to working with him as a member of the Laser family," said director of athletics Kristy Walter. "We had a very competitive search among an outstanding group of applicants and Dieter rose to the top. He has a passion for the game and for coaching young men.  We believe he will be an outstanding leader for the student-athletes in our men's lacrosse program."

A native of Corning, New York, Treusdell was a three-year varsity member at Cortland State (N.Y.) from 2012-14, helping the team to three straight conference championships and the 2012 Division III National runner-up. He was a redshirt freshman at Stony Brook (N.Y.) in 2011 when Stony Brook finished runner-up for the Division I America East Championship.

"I'm honored to join the Lasell Community as the new head coach of the men's lacrosse program," said Treusdell. "I'm excited to do what I love here at Lasell University. I have a tremendous amount of respect for what this program has achieved on and off the field. I'm excited to start the next chapter and build an unbreakable culture. We will play for each other and be great people. I can't wait to lead this team."

"I would like to extend a thank you to my family for all their support, specifically my parents Claude and Michelle Treusdell for encouraging me to pursue my passion," he added. "Thank you to Kristy Walter and the entire search committee for putting their faith in me and giving me this amazing opportunity. I'm looking forward to planting roots and earning my way as a Laser."

Treusdell inherits a Laser squad that posted a 10-3 overall record in 2021 after winning the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular season and tournament championships and advancing to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. The Lasers posted a 61-23 overall record and a 36-3 GNAC mark the past six seasons under former coach Bill Mason, who resigned after the 2021 season to become head coach at Bowdoin College.
