For the first-time ever in program history, the Albertus Magnus men’s basketball team has been ranked in theD3hoops.com Top-25 Poll as announced Monday evening. The Falcons break into the top-25 in the 24th spot after receiving votes in the previous two weekly polls.

Albertus is 20-1 on the year after their 15th-straight victory on Saturday over Emmanuel College. That league win also puts the Falcons at the top of the conference standings with a perfect 14-0 record.

With their 20th win of the season, the Falcons have put themselves into a position to break the program’s single-season record in wins. With four regular season games left on the schedule, and a postseason appearance already clinched, the Falcons need just three more wins to tie the program record of 23 victories, which was accomplished in 2009-10.

Next up for the Falcons will be Trinity College on Tuesday night, as Albertus heads north to Hartford for its final non-conference match-up in regular season play. That contest is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.

In this week’s poll, Hope College moved into the top spot for the first time since March 2008. The Flying Dutchmen are 20-1 overall, with their only loss to Division I Western Michigan.

The D3hoops.com Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly.
