GNAC Field Hockey Athlete of the Week Report #1

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Abbey Playle, Lasell (Gr., M)

Graduate student Abbey Playle helped Lasell open its season in a big way, scoring a hat trick in a 6-0 opening day victory over Salem State. Playle got the scoring going early, netting the first goal of the season just three minutes into the opening quarter. She would add two more in the second to give her three goals on the day. She had 10 shots in total in the game.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Courtney Tello, Lasell (Jr., GK)

Junior goalkeeper Courtney Tello got the start and the victory in Lasell’s season-opening win over Salem State. She made seven saves in 45 minutes of work, keeping the Vikings off the board in a 6-0 win.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Adelaide Kelly, New England College (Fr., F)

First-year forward Adelaide Kelly got her collegiate career off to an impressive start, recording a multi-point game in her debut for New England College. She scored two goals and an assist, including the eventual game-winner, as the Pilgrims defeated Albertus Magnus, 5-0, on Saturday (Sept. 2). It was the first GNAC win for the newest additions to the league.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Makenzie Anderson, New England College - Recorded two saves for the shutout against Albertus Magnus, her first career shutout.

Mikayla Vincent, New England College - Led NEC to its first ever GNAC win, tallying a goal and three assists against Albertus Magnus.

Sydney Gonyea, Simmons - Connected with fellow junior Anna Tedeschi on the game-winning goal 10 minutes into the contest. Added a goal in the third quarter for her first of the season and 42nd in her career - placing her third amongst the program's all-time leaders.
