GNAC Field Hockey Report: Week 4

( FOR THE WEEK OF SEPT. 19 - 25 )

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Aoife Daly, Colby-Sawyer (Sr, F - Harwich, Mass.) - As part of the Chargers' 1-1 overall week, Daly had one goal and three assists for five points in a 5-3 GNAC victory over Lasell.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Kassidy Collins, Saint Joseph's of Maine (Sophomore, GK - Gardiner, Maine) - Collins posted a 2.33 GAA with an .837 save percentage in three games for the Monks last week, as she was well-tested stopping 36 of 43 shots. The sophomore keeper made 25 saves - one stop shy of the program's single-game record - in a 4-0 loss to #8 Kean on Sunday.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Mei Tobin, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Fr., M - Newark, Del.) - Tobin's first collegiate goal proved to be the game-winner in a battle of unbeaten schools Saturday at Simmons. Her second period goal of a pass from graduate student Jillian Miele held up against the Sharks and moved the Wildcats to 7-0 on the season. 

HONOR ROLL

Meghan Sonia, Anna Maria (Sr., M - West Tisbury, Mass.) - Sonia recorded a goal and an assist in a 3-2 shootout win over conference opponent St. Joseph (CT). She added a goal in the shootout for the AMCATS. The AMCATS won their first GNAC game of the season and second win in a row. \
 
Madison Flaxington, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Sr., GK - Lincoln, R.I.) - Flaxington recorded seven saves in a battle for first place Saturday at Simmons. The win kept the Wildcats perfect in GNAC play and extended their program-record win streak to open the season to seven.
 
Riley Lambert, Simmons (Grad Senior, F - Virginia Beach, Va.) - Lambert guided Simmons to a 1-1 week, registered a pair of goals for points over the course of the two-game week. In a midweek non-conference bout against Salve Regina she registered her second game-winning goal of the season three minutes into the contest. Later she tacked on her second goal of the game, just before the end of contest in the 59th minute. It was Lambert's second multi-goal game of the season.
