GNAC Field Hockey Report: Week 2

( FOR THE WEEK OF SEPT. 5 - 11 )

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Sheridan Blaha, Lasell (Senior, F) - The former Regis student-athlete exploded for four goals and an assist for nine points in a 9-0 shutout win over Elms on Thursday.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Lauren Wilkinson, Colby-Sawyer (Sr, GK - Lynn, Mass.) - Wilkinson was impressive for the Chargers last week, going 2-1 with two shutouts and 11 saves on 13 shots for an .846 save percentage. Wilkinson picked up both shutouts over the weekend, moving the senior into second palce in program history in career shutouts.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Taylor Gaudette, Colby-Sawyer (Fr, F - North Conway, N.H.) - Gaudette had five goals and a pair of assists for 12 points in a 2-1 week. After an assist against Keene State, she tallied a goal and an assist against USJ on Saturday in a 5-0 win. Gaudette continued the big weekend with a program-record four-goal performance against UMaine-Farmington.

HONOR ROLL

Aleah Murph, Colby-Sawyer (Jr, - Portland, Maine) - Murph starred for the Chargers last week, finishing with nine points on three goals and three assists, while dominating the midfield. Murph was the player of the game against USJ with two goals and an assist before adding another goal and assist against UMaine-Farmington. 
 
Jillian Miele, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Gr., F - Wilmington, Mass.) - Miele scored five goals in two matches last week as the Wildcats opened the season 4-0 for the first time in school history. She collected five points (2-1-5) - including the GWG - in a win over Manhattanville, then struck for three goals against Dean on Saturday.
 
Alexa Gutowski, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (2023, F - North Conway, N.H.) - Gutowski netted four goals and added an assist in a 2-0 week for the Monks. The senior forward scored a goal in a 3-2 win over Wellesley on Monday and put up three goals and a helper in a 6-0 triumph over Rivier on Sunday.
 
Maya Waryas, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (2026, F - Bellows Falls, Vt.) - Waryas enjoyed another strong week for the Monks with two goals and two assists in a pair of wins last week. The first-year forward registered a tally and a helper in each triumph, including the game-winner in a 3-2 victory over Wellesley on Monday.
 
Sydney Gonyea, Simmons (Sophomore, A - Lebanon, N.H.) - Gonyea led Simmons to back-to-back shutouts for the first time since 2019 and helped the Sharks open GNAC action at 1-0 following a 3-0 victory over Anna Maria, totaling four goals and an assist for nine points. Early in the week against Bridgewater State, Gonyea registered her first hat-trick of the 2022 season, scoring three goals in a 5-0 shutout of the Bears. She closed out the week scoring her fourth goal of the week, while tallying an assist against the Amcats. Gonyea currently leads the GNAC in assists and points and is second in amongst conference leaders in goals.
