GNAC Baseball Report: Week 3

( FOR THE WEEK MARCH 13 - 19 )

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Owen Davis, Johnson & Wales (RI) (So., C - Bristol, Conn.) - Davis batted .583 (7-12) with a .615 OBP, 1.448 OPS, three runs three doubles and three RBI to help the Wildcats post a 2-1 record on their trip to Marietta, Ga. for three games. After going 2-for-3 with an RBI in a win over NJCU, Davis went 4-for-5 with three doubles and three RBI in a big win over No. 20 Marietta on Saturday. He laced a two-run double in the fourth and later singled in the eventual winning run in the eighth. Davis - who also scored twice against the Pioneers - owns a .333 batting average this far in 2023.
 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Justin Marks, Albertus Magnus (Fr., P/1B/OF - Beacon Falls, Conn.) - Marks earned a pair of complete-game victories for the Falcons down in Myrtle Beach, S.C., last week, improving his overall record to 2-1 on the young season. The left-handed hurler allowed just two earned runs on 10 hits with three walks, while striking out 12 batters over 14.0 innings for a 1.29 ERA.
 

WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
 
Anthony Broadhurst, Albertus Magnus (Sr., C - Stratford, Conn.) - Broadhurst exploded for the Falcons this past week in Myrtle Beach, S.C., hitting .529 with a .556 OBP and a .824 slugging percentage as the Falcons went 4-3. The senior catcher went 9-for-17 with five doubles, eight RBIs, one walk, and four runs scored. He had a three hit performance on March 14th against St. Joseph's (Brkln) and recorded two multi-hit games against Plattsburgh and Framingham State. 
 
Jarrod Marifiote, Anna Maria (Gr., - Framingham, Mass.) - Homered in a 6-3 win over Fitchburg State on Thursday.
 
Zach Rogers, Colby-Sawyer (Jr, P / 3B - Maspee, Mass.) - At the plate, Rogers was 3-for-10 with two doubles and four RBI across four games, and on the mound he spun a (seven-inning) complete game two-hit shutout in a 3-0 win over Maine Farmington on Thursday, in which he struck out two and walked two.
 
ROOK Dylan Watson, Colby-Sawyer (Fr., OF / P - Byfield, Mass.) - Watson had a huge week offensively, going 7-for-15 (.467) with three doubles, three runs and two RBI en route to a 1.134 OPS. He also struck out 12 in 7.2 innings of work on the mound. 
 
Kyle Cutler, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Gr., P - East Hampton, Conn.) - Cutler tossed six shutout innings in a win over NJCU on Friday. The graduate students scattered seven hits, walked one, and fanned five to move to 2-1 on the season while lowering his ERA to 1.17 in the process.
 
Tim Callahan, Lasell (Sophomore, IF - Attleboro, Mass.) - Callahan recorded multiple hits in four of six Laser games last week, hitting 10-for-25 (.400) with a triple, three RBI, and six runs scored.
