Saint Joseph’s College junior pitcher/outfielder
Pat Moran (Winterport, ME/Hampden
Academy) has been named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference
(ECAC) All-Star Second Team as a utility player.
Moran, a GNAC First Team honoree as both a pitcher and outfielder,
was named the GNAC Player and Pitcher of the Year, received All-New
England First Team honors from the New England Intercollegiate
Baseball Association, and was a D3Baseball.com All-American
Honorable Mention selection.
Moran, in his second year at St. Joe’s after transferring
from the University of Maine, hit .411 (46-112) and led the
conference in home runs (11) and slugging percentage (.813) in
2009. On the mound, the right-hander fanned a league high 75
batters in 62 2/3 innings, against just six walks, with an 8-1
record to go with a 3.88 earned run average and a pair of saves.
His miniscule 0.86 walks per nine innings ratio ranks fourth in all
of NCAA DIII Baseball.
Saint Joseph’s went 31-13 overall and 13-1 in conference
play in 2009 en route to capturing the program’s first GNAC
regular season title.
