STANDISH, Maine - #25 Saint Joseph's College (3-0) toppled Husson University (1-1-1), 4-0, in a non-conference men's soccer contest at the SJC Athletics Complex on Tuesday evening.
With the victory, the Monks extend their program record undefeated streak to 24 games and their home-field undefeated string to 21 contests.
THE LEAD
After scoring one goal off just five shots in the first half, the Monks' offense came to life in the second stanza and netted three goals off 17 shots in the closing 45 minutes.
As it played out, the only goal the Monks required to dispatch the Eagles was scored in the 24th minute, when sophomore Noah Elmore (Berlin, Vt.) knocked in a header off a well-placed set piece off the foot of senior Dalton Gaumer (Corona, Calif.).
Juniors Ryan Buonaiuto (Scituate, R.I.) and Noah Robinson (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) scored just four minutes apart, as tallies in the 49th and 53rd minutes, respectively, lifted the hosts to a 3-0 cushion.
Freshman midfielder Austin Ward (North Andover, Mass.) capped the game scoring with his first collegiate goal at the 76:33 mark.
THE KEEPERS
SJC senior Blake Mullen (Manchester, Conn.) made one save over 73:38 minutes before being lifted in favor of sophomore David Walbridge (Hampden, Mass.), who went untested in 16:22 minutes of mop-up duty.
Husson junior Kyle Townsend (Hampden, Maine) stopped six shots – including an outstanding save on a Brett Mattos (Mahopac, N.Y.) PK attempt early in the second half – over 80:12 minutes and freshman Benjamin Powell (Frankford, Maine) did not see a shot in 9:48 minutes of relief work.

Saint Joseph's held lopsided advantages in shots (22-2) and shots on goal (11-1) with a 3-2 edge in corner kicks on the evening.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING
With the win, Saint Joseph's improves to 6-20 in the history of the series with Husson University and has now defeated the Eagles in three-consecutive meetings.
