Pride Move to 5-1 With Win Over Lesley

BOSTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's tennis team defeated Lesley Tuesday in a non-conference match at the Beren Tennis Center, 9-0.

In doubles play, the team of Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) and Carly Donovan (Harwich, Mass.) defeated their opponents 8-0 in first doubles. The third doubles pairing of Kaitlyn Colby (Merrimac, Mass.) and Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) finished their match with an 8-1 victory over Summer Lamprey and Jocelyn Martinez.

The Pride completed the doubles sweep when Ginger Boodakian (Burlington, Mass.) and Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) beat Morgan Anderson and Mary Pulling in second doubles, 8-3.

McCormack was the first member of the Pride to finish their singles match, coming out on top (6-0, 6-1). The clinching point came when Katelyn Mogelnicki defeated Grace Janovich (6-1, 6-1).

Lauren Mogelnicki finished fourth singles with a victory (6-2, 6-0), and Donovan finished her first singles tilt (6-0, 6-0). Boodakian was victorious in fifth singles (6-4, 6-1), and Abby Hewett (Newton, Mass.), making her singles debut for the Pride, defeated Martinez in two sets (6-3, 7-5.)

Lesley (5-4, 4-0 NAC) will play Wentworth on Thursday, Sept. 26 before playing back to back conference matches on Saturday, Sept. 28 against Thomas and Sunday, Sept. 29 versus Husson.

Regis (5-1, 2-1 GNAC) face Johnson & Wales (R.I.) on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. during Regis Fest. The Pride will then play two non-conference matches to kick off October before traveling to face St. Joseph (Conn.) on Saturday, Oct. 5.
