Pride Wrap GNAC Regular Season with Win

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Regis College women's tennis team finished their final regular season Great Northeast Athletic Conference match with a 9-0 victory over the Albertus Magnus Falcons Saturday at the Celentano Tennis Courts.

The Pride got off to a hot start with an 8-0 victory in number one doubles by the pairing of Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) and Carly Donovan (Harwich, Mass.). In third doubles Kaeleigh FitzPatrick (South Windsor, Conn.) and Ells Mine Saint Paul (Marlborough, Mass.) defeated their opponents, 8-1.

Ginger Boodakian (Burlington, Mass.) and Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 victory over Nayelli Magana and Mariah Mandulak.

Kaitlyn Colby (Merrimac, Mass.) won her match in number five singles without dropping a game (6-0, 6-0), while Abby Hewett (Newton, Mass.) clinched the match with a victory in sixth singles(6-0, 6-1).

In third singles, Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Mass.) won her match (6-0, 6-0) before McCormack was victorious in number one singles for the Pride (6-3, 6-0). FitzPatrick then finished her fourth singles match with a straight-set (6-1, 6-0) win, and Katelyn Mogelnicki closed out the match by winning her match at second singles against Mandulak (6-3, 6-2).

Albertus Magnus (2-9, 0-7 GNAC) will play Vaughn at the US National Tennis Center Sunday, Oct. 13.

Regis (8-2, 5-2 GNAC) has secured the third seed in the GNAC and will wait to see who they will host in the quarterfinal round of the GNAC playoffs Wednesday, Oct. 16.
