Mount Ida Men's Soccer Helps with Franklin Park Clean Up

Boston, MA - The Mount Ida College men's soccer program volunteered this past Saturday, December 8th, to help clean up Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts with the Franklin Park Coalition.  14 players from the squad were in attendance on a rain soaked day to aid in this beautiful park for the residents of Boston and beyond.

"Mount Ida men's soccer wants become an important piece to the surrounding community and make a meaningful impact to residents and youth in the area," said second year Head Coach Joseph Campbell.  "Volunteering helps the boys give back and creates stronger bonds with the player.  It's a great team building opportunity."

Franklin Park, created by Frederick Law Olmsted in the 1880s as the "jewel" of Boston's Emerald Necklace, is home to a 200 acre forest.  It boasts an 18-hole public golf course, tennis courts, baseball fields, and a premier cross country course, old stone ruins, and New England's largest Zoo. Come spend the day! You can lunch at the golf clubhouse, watch a Sunday afternoon cricket game, and walk the 2.5 mile loop path through woods, over old stone bridges, and past a picturesque pond.  Park community members help take care of the park's special places and have a voice in decisions that impact the park.
