Providence, R.I. – Johnson
& Wales University wrestling standout Everet Desilets
(Cranston, R.I.) has been named Freshman of the Year at 157 pounds
by D3Wrestle.com, announced on Monday.
This marks the first time in the programs history that a
wrestler has achieved this accolade. During his impressive
rookie campaign, Everet was 24-4 with three pins on the season.
Desilets helped guide the Wildcats to winning the Prestigious
Ithaca Tournament and an upset win over tem-time National Champions
Augsburg at the NWCA National Duals. In that victory for JWU,
he recorded his win via pinfall in just :30. His three pins
on the year helped JWU to 152 pins on the season which was tops
among all NCAA Division III programs.
