The Rivier University Raiders downed the Saints of Emmanuel College in Boston last night, 3-1.  The scores were 24-26, 25-17 & 25-18.

While the Saints got the best of the Raiders the first set, the Raiders showed no mercy in the following two sets.  Leading the Raiders attack was senior Francis Kokoros (Braintree, Mass) belted 14 kills on 20 attempts, hitting at .500.  Sophomores Kristjan Cortez (Fremont, Cali) Sokunbuth Ly (Lowell, Mass) and Quinn Foglia (Remsenberg, N.Y.) each split 11 kills apiece.  Just behind this trio was veteran hitter David Smith who hammered down 10 kills and 3 aces.

Junior setter Eric Roderick played all four sets and lent out 43 assists and three kills on the attack, while collecting two blocks and five digs on the defense.

The Raiders defense was quite resistant as Smith tallied 12 digs and two blocks and upperclassmen Cam Roth (Coventry, R.I.) scooped up 11 digs. Collectively the Raiders tallied an astounding 47 digs and seven blocks on the night.

This win brings the Raiders to 5-2 overall and marks the first Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory of the season.  The loss drops the Saints to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the GNAC.  This Sunday the Raiders will be traveling down to Newton, Mass for a double header against the Pride of Regis College (3-7 overall, 0-2 GNAC) at 2PM and the Lasers of Lasell University (7-6 overall, 0-0 GNAC) at 4PM.
