Askew Leads Falcons Over Rivier 96-58

New Haven, CT - The Albertus Magnus College Men's Basketball team cruised to a 96-58 win over Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Rivier College behind a balanced scoring effort that saw five Falcons score in double figures.  Junior forward Ray Askew (New Haven, CT/Career) led the Falcons with a game high 23 points and a game high 10 rebounds in just 25 minutes.

The Falcons led from the beginning and never looked back getting contributions from every player on the roster as Coach Mitch Oliver emptied his bench just midway through the second half.

Freshman forward Darius Watson (New Britain, CT/New Britain) added 16 points on 6-11 shooting while sophomore guard Arshad Jackson (Hartford, CT/Hartford Public) chipped in 14 points.  Senior Walden St. Juste (Hartford, CT/Bulkeley) and junior guard Byron Reaves (Hamden, CT/Hamden) each added 11 points.

The Falcons shot 55.1% from the floor including 43.5% from beyond the arc while tallying 13 steals in the game.

Rivier College was led by junior guard Will Snider (Brooklyn, NY/Cardinal McCarick) and his team igh 10 points.  Senior center Don Poitras (Bow, NH/Bow) added nine points and a team high seven rebounds.

Albertus improves to 7-5, 5-1 GNAC while Rivier College drops to 7-5, 2-3 GNAC.

Albertus returns to action on Monday at 3:00 pm when they host St. Joseph's College (ME) in a key GNAC match-up.
