Women’s Lacrosse Takes Down the AMCATS

PAXSON, MA: Rivier women's lacrosse took down the AMCATS of Anna Maria College in the final GNAC contest of the season.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 4/26/23

- Score: Rivier 13, Anna Maria 7

- Records: Rivier (6-8, 5-8 GNAC), Anna Maria (1-15, 0-13 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Raiders found themselves down after one quarter of play. Bailey Carroll (Nashua, NH) started the scoring just 16 seconds into the game. Riley Cote would answer back with two quick goals of her own to go up 2-1. Sarah Lachance (Chelmsford, MA) got her first goal to tie the game up at two. Cote would get her third goal to regain the lead. Cassie Hemmerdinger (Pelham, NH) knotted it up again at three with 36 seconds left in the quarter. Anna Maria would find the back of the net one more time with just six seconds left on an Ivy Ballou goal.

- Lachance would start the second quarter with her second goal of the game. Alice Yokabaskas would put the AMCATS back on top with 7:29 left in the half. Lachance would then go off for two goals in a row to overtake the lead 6-5. Cote would bring the score even once again with 2:03 left in the half.

- The second half was all Rivier with four goals in the third and three in the fourth compared to just one Anna Maria goal by Cote in the fourth. Caitlin Newell (Litchfield, NH) would start the second half with two quick goals just 13 seconds apart from another while man-down. Ashley Wilder (Milford, NH) would score the last two in the third quarter. Hemmerdinger scored her second and third goals to start the fourth, followed up by one more Newell score to close out the game.

-  Lindsey Kruger (New Bedford, MA) got the win after making 13 saves on 20 shots. Ashley Sheehan got the loss after allowing 13 goals and 13 saves.
