NEWPORT, R.I. - After overcoming a 6-1 deficit, the Salve Regina University baseball team will have to wait to finish its non-conference matchup with Johnson & Wales University.

The Wildcats got the scoring started in the third inning with four straight hits. A double from Joe Maracic (Syosset, N.Y.), an RBI single from Steve Rocchio (Cranston, R.I.), followed by a base hit from Nick Lloyd (Plymouth, Mass.) and a two-run double from Colby Greenhlagh (Plainfield, Conn.) for a 3-0 lead. The Wildcats added two more runs in the fourth off a two-run double from Rich Bourdeau (Pawtucket, R.I.).

Salve Regina finally got on the board in the fifth with an RBI knock from Tyler Cannoe (Schenectady, R.I.).

After Johnson & Wales got the run back in the top of the seventh, the Seahawks scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game 6-6.

Salve Regina pitching walked in two runs in the top of the eighth, but in the bottom of the frame Justice Welch (Hackensack, N.J.) drove in Cannoe and Dylan Ketch (Clinton, Conn.) with his two-out base hit to tie the game 8-8.

Neither team could score in the ninth and the game was halted due to darkness.

The Seahawks and Wildcats are scheduled to play each other again on April 21 in Providence, and will resume the game then with the score tied 8-8 in the top of the 10th inning.
