Volleyball Sweeps Dean and Lasell

AUBURNDALE, MA: Rivier women's volleyball will take the #1 seed going into the GNAC postseason tournament after sweeping both Dean College and Lasell University this afternoon.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/29/22

- Score: Rivier 3, Dean 0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-10). Rivier 3, Lasell 0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-14)

- Records: Rivier (25-4, 13-0 GNAC), Lasell (18-13, 10-3 GNAC), Dean (6-23, 3-10 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED: Match One

- The Raiders put together a .329 kill percentage match against the Bulldogs of Dean. Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, CT) led the way with 15 kills on 29 attempts and four errors. Sofia Pawlusik (Burnt Hills, NY) was all over the court as the team's Libero racking up 19 digs. Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, NY) shelled out 27 assists along with nine digs.

- The Bulldogs tallied 11 kills as a team, led by Emily Larouche, who had a team-high four kills. Bella Driscoll had six assists, with Mandi Payne had eight digs.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Kills: Rivier 34, Dean 11

-  Assists: Rivier 32, Dean 9

-  Digs: Rivier 35, Dean 26

HOW IT HAPPENED: Match Two

- Rivier continued to dominate offensively in the second match, with sophomore middle hitter Lily Sills (Carlisle, MA) leading the way in this one with 11 kills, three aces, and eight blocks. Racevicius was just behind her with nine kills. She also racked up a team-high nine digs. Pollard added another 26 assists to her name.

- The Lasers McKenna McCool had a team-high ten kills for the hosting school. She was fed by two setters this afternoon; Saige Cambonga-Meyers had the most assists with 10, while Sydney Katz had nine.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Kills: Rivier 37, Lasell 23

- Assists: Rivier 34, Lasell 23

- Digs: Lasell 33, Rivier 32

- Rivier women's volleyball will be back in action Tuesday, November 1^st, at 7 pm. They face St. Joseph's COllege in the Quarterfinals of the GNAC Tournament in the Muldoon Center.
