Volleyball Stays Perfect in Conference Play

NASHUA, NH: Rivier women's volleyball continues to stay perfect in GNAC play after taking down both Norwich University and Albertus Magnus College today in the Muldoon Center.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/8/22

- Score: Rivier 3, Norwich 1 (25-13, 23-25, 25-15, 25-13). Rivier 3, Albertus 0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-16)

- Records: Rivier (14-4, 4-0 GNAC), Norwich (9-6, 3-3 GNAC), Albertus (5-15, 1-5 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED: MATCH ONE

-  The Raiders started strong this morning against the Cadets racking up 16 kills just in the first set compared to six for Norwich. The Cadets did bounce back in set two to take it from Riv to force four sets. After the lost set, Rivier's offense and defense shut down the Cadets to take the match.

Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, CT) had a huge performance for the Raiders putting down 24 kills with just three errors. Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, NY) dished out 40 assists in this one, along with five service aces. Sofia Pawlusik (Burnt Hills, NY) was all over the court, digging everything that came her way. She finished tied for the match-high with 18 digs.

- The Cadets offense was led by Ana Lopez, who had the team-high in kills with 12. Laura Farnum match Pawlusik in digs with 18.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Kills: Rivier 51, Norwich 31

-  Assists: Rivier 49, Norwich 27

-  Digs: Rivier 56, Norwich 45

HOW IT HAPPENED: MATCH TWO

- The Raiders cruised past the Falcons in their second match of the day, allowing some new faces to make an impact. Lydia Pray (Groton, MA) and Racevicius topped the team in kills with eight. Pollard put up another 26 assists to go along with four kills and another five aces. Olivia Garand (Litchfield, NH) came in as the Libero and racked up 13 digs.

- Albertus tallied just nine kills in the match, with Nathalie Wallace being the most efficient, with two kills and just one error. Amanda Zdru did her best on defense as she had the match-high of 14 digs.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Kills: Rivier 34, Albertus 9

- Assists: Rivier 33, Albertus 7

- Digs: Rivier 40, Albertus 31
